- As the US presidential election nears, there are reports and warnings of heightened foreign interference by nation-state cyberthreat actors. Some campaigns aimed at undermining the electoral process use deepfake videos, including one that gained 5 million views on X and falsely accuses a presidential candidate of illegal poaching in Africa.
- Recent weeks have also seen a number of damaging hacks and breaches, including one hitting American Water, the largest US water utility, and two incidents targeting The Internet Archive. In other news, LEGO had its website briefly compromised to serve up a cryptocurrency scam.
