The Financial Times reports that the UK and India will improve co-operation in a bid to combat the growing threat from international cyber crime and cyber warfare in a new agreement between the two countries. The announcement was made during British Premier David Cameron’s trade trip to the emerging economic power.
The joint task force to be announced will apparently see the UK sharing its expertise in tackling cyber threats in order to better secure the increasing amount of business and personal data stored on servers in India.
“Other countries securing their data is effectively helping us secure our data. I think this is an area where Britain has some real competitive and technology advantages,” said Cameron.
The two leaders are expected to agree a substantial strengthening of practical co-operation between British and Indian authorities to increase the security of British and Indian computer networks and to help defend them against cyber attacks by terrorists, criminals and hostile states, said an official statement.
